Bowlplex was formed in 1976 to acquire the Branksome Bowl, although it wasn't until 1984 that our current Managing Director, Mr Tracy Standish became involved with Bowlplex. Over the past 25 years Bowlplex has grown into a national group of 18 entertainment centres across the UK offering late night licensed bars, dance floors, American Pool and amusement games in addition to industry-leading tenpin bowling.
Bowlplex has most certainly pushed the boundaries of family entertainment throughout our history being the first to introduce many new concepts; examples include working with key manufacturers within the industry to develop an in–house guarding solution to ensure safe working practices. Being awarded the ROSPA prize for the last 4 years is testament to our commitment to high standards of Health and Safety in the workplace. Led by a dynamic team of Directors including Commercial Director Marena Hyatt–Willis and Finance Director Austin Cullaney we were delighted to be placed within the top 100 fastest growing companies in the UK by the Deloitte Indy 100 Awards. This was achieved through well-planned efficiency drives and a commitment to ensuring that all development within the business is financially sensible.
Throughout our history we’ve stayed loyal to our core values – innovative, creative and adaptable. This has enabled us to evolve into a company that turns over in excess of £27m per year whilst employing in excess of 580 staff across the United Kingdom. Despite being a company of significant size, we remain dedicated to our environmental responsibilities and we expect to reduce our carbon footprint in 2009 by a staggering 30% when compared to 2006.
Today our multi-function entertainment centres serve a purpose for just about anyone you can think of: from children’s parties, team events with work colleagues, right the way through to golden oldies, Bowlplex really does cater for everyone! Each of our 18 centres has between 18 and 26 lanes of tenpin bowling for you to enjoy coupled with freshly prepared food, a relaxed sports bar and excellent customer service.
